Thou Art the Potter, I Am the Clay

How often do we want our way with life? For me, its way more than I would like to admit to. I always want to make my own decisions and make my own plans.

As most of you know, I'm in the process of making a decision about my immediate future in graduate school. I'm faced with the fear of moving far away from home or living in a very large city. Pro & con lists have been compiled in my head. I've had many discussions with my family & my friends. And, I've asked God to show me the way, but I'm not sure if I've been listening to Him closely. I trust that He will lead me to the right place and His will WILL be done.

Tonight at church, we sang this song -- how amazing are these lyrics? I don't want my way in this decision. I want His way.

Have Thine Own Way, Lord

Adelaide A. Pollard, 1862-1934

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Thou art the potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after thy will,
while I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Search me and try me, Savior today!
Wash me just now, Lord, wash me just now,
as in thy presence humbly I bow.

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me I pray!
Power, all power, surely is thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine!

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Hold o'er my being absolute sway.
Fill with thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me!
