If Happy Little Bluebirds Fly...

I'm obsessed with birds. I love any and everything that has any type of bird on it. I received my first bird, the one in the picture, as a graduation gift in 2006. I didn't really know it's purpose then, but I know now. Birds remind me of my favorite song. The song that I sang so loudly as a child. The song that I want my niece to know so well.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

These lyrics speak to my heart so dearly. I wanted to share them with everyone. Even though it's already one of the most recognizable songs of all time, I want to suggest really paying attention to the meaning behind the words. Dreams really do come true.

P.S. A special thank you to one of my mom's friends for giving me my first bird. That bird has sparked a meaningful collection of items and memories.

Simply,

Court
